The Hottest Niche Market
With the Hispanic population on the rise, the real estate market focuses on this particular group as great potential home buyers. Along with a rapidly growing population, the comparatively young age of the average Hispanic in the United States makes them the hottest niche market. In fact, more than 230,000 households will join the ranks of homeowners each year over the next 20 years. From 1996 to 2001 homeownership for Hispanics grew to 46.4%--faster than any other group.
Not only are Hispanics buying homes in record numbers, but the average age suggests even more growth as the population matures. The median age of Hispanics in the U.S. is 26 years, compared to 30 years for African-Americans and 38 years for Caucasians. The number of traditional entry-level buyers, typically 33 years old, will increase by 12% within the Hispanic population over the next 6 years compared to a 10% decline among other U.S. residents.
